Showglobe

Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026

Showglobe is where you find what’s on, make your own events and bring people together. This page covers what we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run Showglobe and what you control.

The short version

  • Showglobe shows no ads and runs no outside analytics or advertising trackers.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • Public profiles and public posts are public. You choose who sees the rest.
  • Chat messages are stored encrypted.
  • You can delete your account, and what you posted, from inside the app.

What we collect

Your account

  • An email address and a name.
  • A password, if you set one. We never store the password itself.
  • If you sign in with Google or Apple, the ID that service uses for you, plus the name and email it shares with us. Apple lets you hide your email. If you do, we get a relay address that forwards to you.
  • The IP address and browser of each sign-in, and when you last signed in.

Your profile

A profile has a handle, a display name, a profile type (just you, or a band, a venue, a DJ, a comedian and so on), a bio, an avatar, a cover image, links, and a city or location. You can add more if you want to, such as genres, booking contact details and a birth date. None of those extras are required.

A public profile can be seen by anyone, signed in or not, and can show up in search engines. You can set a profile to followers only or private in your profile settings.

Some venue and artist pages are started by us from public listings, so that events have somewhere to point. If one of them is yours, you can claim it on the Claims and reports page, or write to us about it.

What you post

Photos, video, tracks and other audio, playlists, events, tours and trips, comments, likes, follows, RSVPs, invites and booking requests. If you answer the Seer’s questions to set up a profile, we keep your answers.

Messages

Chat messages are encrypted before they are stored. They are not end-to-end encrypted: our servers deliver them to the people in the chat, and we may open a conversation when we need to look into a report of abuse or when the law requires it.

Location

Near Me asks your browser for your location. If you allow it, your coordinates are sent to our server to find events close to you. A signed-in profile can save a location so Near Me works without asking again. If you are not signed in, the location stays in your browser for that tab and is gone when you close it. You can always say no to the prompt and pick a city by hand.

Tickets and payments

Ticket payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go from your browser straight to Stripe and never reach our servers. We keep a record of the purchase: what you bought, the amount, the time and Stripe’s reference for the payment. Your email is passed to Stripe for the receipt.

You can buy a ticket without signing up. We then create a guest account from the email you give us, so you can get back to your tickets later. Organizers who receive payouts set up their payout account with Stripe, which collects their identity and bank details directly.

If you do not have an account

When an organizer allows it, you can comment or RSVP on an event as a guest. Your browser keeps a random guest ID and the name you typed, so you can come back and change or cancel. We store the comment or RSVP with that ID, the name, your IP address and your browser type. We use the IP address to limit how much one address can post and to let organizers block abuse.

Notifications in the iPhone app

If you allow notifications, we store an identifier for each device you sign in on so we can notify it. It is removed when you sign out on that device, turn notifications off or delete your account. A notification says which profile wrote and what happened, not what a message says.

Logs and usage

  • Our server logs page visits: the page, the time, the page you came from, your IP address and browser type, and your account if you are signed in. We use this to fix problems, stop abuse and see which pages get used.
  • For signed-in profiles we record views and plays, for example that a track was played or an event was viewed. This feeds the ranking of what is popular.
  • Links made with the share button carry a short code. When one is opened we record the time, the IP address and the browser type.

Who can see your media

Each photo, video and playlist you post has a visibility setting (public, unlisted or private), and we show it only to the people that setting allows. Avatars, cover images, event images and playlist covers are promotional and are public.

Cookies and storage on your device

  • Sign-in. One cookie keeps you signed in until you sign out.
  • Campaigns. If you arrive from one of our own ads or printed QR codes, a first-party cookie remembers that for 30 days, so we can tell whether the campaign led to a visit or a sign-up. It is read only by Showglobe and is not shared with any ad network.
  • Settings. Your theme, a guest name and similar small settings are kept in your browser.
  • Payments. Our payment processor’s code loads only at checkout and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

How we use it

  • To run Showglobe: sign you in, show profiles, posts and events to the people allowed to see them, deliver messages, and sell and check tickets.
  • To email you about your account and activity: verifying your email, password resets, ticket receipts, account changes, booking inquiries, and updates from events you said you are going to.
  • To keep people safe: rate limits, blocks, and reviewing reports.
  • To understand what gets used and to fix what breaks.

Who helps us run Showglobe

We share information only with the services that make Showglobe work, and only what each one needs.

  • Hosting, storage and content delivery providers, which hold and serve what you post.
  • Stripe, which processes ticket payments and organizer payouts.
  • Google and Apple, which sign you in if you choose them.
  • An email delivery provider, which sends the email described above.
  • Mapping providers. A place you search for is sent to one to look it up, and map images load in your browser from another, which sees your IP address as any website would.
  • Apple, which delivers notifications to the iPhone app if you turn them on.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone from harm.

What you control

  • Edit or remove what is on your profile, and delete your own posts and comments.
  • Choose who can see a profile, a photo, a video or a playlist.
  • Block a profile from the Account tab of your profile settings.
  • Say no to the location prompt and still use Showglobe.
  • Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or remove it, by writing to the address below.

Deleting your account

Go to Profile, open the Account tab and choose Delete account. You type DELETE to confirm. Deleting is permanent.

It removes your account, your sign-in links and sessions, the profiles that are yours alone, and what those profiles posted: photos, video, tracks, playlists, comments and the files behind them. A profile you share with other people stays with them. We keep records of ticket purchases, as payment records must be kept.

If you cannot sign in to do it yourself, write to privacy@showglobe.app from the account’s email address and we will do it for you.

Children

Showglobe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is a big one, we will say so in the app or by email.
