How to Create a Show

Learn how to use all the features of the show creation form. This tutorial covers every tab and control.

Overview

The show creation form is organized into four main tabs. Each tab focuses on a specific aspect of your show.

Lineup Tab

Add artists, bands, DJs, and other performers to your show. Search, filter, and reorder your lineup with drag-and-drop.

Venue Tab

Select an existing venue from the database or create a custom venue. Venues include location, capacity, and contact information.

Details Tab

Set show name, URL, media, dates, status, visibility, collaborators, tags, theme, and more. This is where you customize your show's appearance and information.

Tickets Tab

Configure ticket pricing, ticket tiers (VIP, Early Bird, etc.), sale dates, and ticket URLs. Set up complex pricing structures for your show.

Lineup Tab
Required for non-draft shows

Build your show's lineup by searching for artists and adding them to your show. You can reorder artists, set performance times, and invite artists to the show.

Selected Lineup

When you add artists to your lineup, they appear in the top section. Each artist card shows:

  • Order number - The performance order (drag to reorder)
  • Artist avatar - Profile picture
  • Artist name - Click to view their profile
  • Type and genre - Artist type (Band, DJ, Artist) and primary genre
  • Performance details - Set start time, duration, and notes (click the ⋯ menu)
  • Invite status - Shows if the artist has been invited to the show

Lineup Actions

Group Chat

Create a group chat with all artists in your lineup. This allows you to coordinate with everyone at once. The button is enabled when you have 2+ artists.

Invite All

Send individual show invites to all artists in your lineup. Each artist receives their own chat invitation.

Searching for Artists

Search Bar

Type to search for artists by name, handle, or bio. Results update as you type (debounced for performance).

  • Searches across artist names, handles, and bios
  • Results load with infinite scroll
  • Artists already in lineup are filtered out

Filter Button

Click the filter icon to open advanced filtering options:

  • Location - Filter by city, state, or full location
  • Genre - Filter by primary genre
  • Type - Filter by artist type (Artist, Band, DJ, etc.)
  • Date Availability - Find artists available on specific dates
  • Capacity - Filter by venue capacity requirements

Active filters are shown as a badge count on the filter button.

Column Visibility

Use the columns button to toggle which columns are visible in the search results table. Available columns: Artist, Type, Genre, City, State, Location.

Adding Artists to Lineup

To add an artist to your lineup:

  1. Search for the artist using the search bar
  2. Click the + button on the artist's row
  3. The artist is immediately added to your selected lineup
  4. Use the drag handle (⋮⋮) to reorder artists
  5. Click the menu to edit performance details or invite the artist

Creating New Artist Profiles

If an artist doesn't exist in the database, you can create a new profile:

  1. Click the "create one +" button in the empty lineup section
  2. Fill out the artist profile form
  3. The new profile is automatically added to your lineup

Reordering Artists

Reorder artists by dragging them using the grip handle (⋮⋮) on the left side of each artist card. The order number updates automatically. On mobile, use touch gestures to reorder.

Venue Tab
Required for non-draft shows

Select a venue for your show from the database, or create a custom venue if it doesn't exist.

Selected Venue

When you select a venue, it appears in a highlighted card showing:

  • Venue name and avatar
  • Full address and location
  • Capacity (if available)
  • Invite status (if the venue has been invited)
  • Options to chat with venue or remove selection

Searching for Venues

Search Bar

Search for venues by name or location. Results include venue type, city, capacity, and full address.

Filters

Filter venues by:

  • Venue Type - Music venue, comedy club, theater, etc.
  • Location - City, state, or full address
  • Capacity - Minimum and maximum capacity

Selecting a Venue

To select a venue:

  1. Search for the venue or browse the list
  2. Click the + button (or checkmark if already selected)
  3. The venue is immediately added to your show
  4. Venue coordinates and timezone are automatically set

Creating a Custom Venue

If a venue doesn't exist in the database, you can create a new venue profile:

  1. Click the "create one +" button
  2. Fill out the venue profile form with name, address, city, state, and capacity
  3. The new venue is automatically selected for your show

Note: Custom venues don't have coordinates or timezone data, but you can still use them for your show.

Details Tab
Required

Set all the essential information about your show, including name, URL, media, dates, status, and customization options.

Basic Information

Show Name *

The title of your show. This appears prominently on your show page and in search results.

Show URL *

Your show's unique URL handle. This is automatically generated from the show name, but you can customize it.

  • Auto-generated when you type the show name (for new shows)
  • URL format: /show/your-show-url
  • Availability is checked in real-time
  • Must be unique and URL-friendly (lowercase, hyphens, no spaces)

Show Date

The date of your show. Used for scheduling, ticket sales, and calendar features.

Doors Open & Show Time

Set when doors open and when the show actually starts. Both times are optional but help attendees plan.

Status, Type & Visibility

Status

Current state of your show:

  • Draft - Work in progress (only name/URL required)
  • Planned - Show is planned
  • Confirmed - Show is confirmed
  • Announced - Publicly announced
  • Seeking Venue - Looking for a venue
  • Seeking Acts - Looking for performers
  • Sold Out - No tickets available
  • Cancelled - Show cancelled

Show Type

Category of show:

  • Music, DJ, Party, Comedy, Dance, Burlesque, Magic

Visibility

Who can see your show:

  • Public - Anyone can see and discover
  • Private - Only you and collaborators
  • Unlisted - Anyone with link, not in feeds

Show Media

Poster Image or Video

Upload a cover image or promotional video for your show:

  • Images: Max 10MB (JPG, PNG, WebP)
  • Videos: Max 100MB (MP4, WebM)
  • If no media is uploaded, the headliner's avatar is used
  • You can upload either an image OR a video (not both)

Background Media

Add immersive background media for your show page:

  • Background Video - Plays when visitors click anywhere on the show page
  • Background Image - Displays behind content
  • Automatically applies overlay theme when uploaded
  • Optional but creates a more engaging experience

Additional Features

Show Playlist

Link a playlist to showcase the music for your show. Select from your existing playlists.

Tags

Add tags to help people discover your show (e.g., "rock", "indie", "live-music"). Press Enter or Space to add tags.

Collaborators

Add users who can help edit the show. Collaborators have full editing permissions.

Tagged Users

Tag users to notify them about the show. Tagged users can see the show but can't edit it.

Show Theme

Customize the appearance of your show page:

  • Background colors and opacity
  • Text colors and contrast
  • Card and border styling
  • Use background image or video
  • Preview changes in real-time

Click the "Theme" button to open the theme customizer. Changes are saved automatically in edit mode.

About & Notes

About

Describe your show, what people can expect, special features, etc. This appears on your show's public page.

Notes

Private notes for yourself and collaborators. Not visible to the public.

Tickets Tab
Optional

Configure ticket pricing, create ticket tiers, and set up sale dates for your show.

General Ticket Information

Ticket Price (USD)

Set a general ticket price for your show. You can also check "Free" to mark the show as free.

Note: If you create ticket tiers, the tier prices override this general price.

Ticket URL

Link to an external ticketing platform (e.g., Eventbrite, Ticketmaster). Optional but helpful for directing ticket sales.

Ticket Tiers

Create multiple ticket types with different pricing and availability. Perfect for VIP, Early Bird, Student discounts, etc.

Quick Add Presets

Click any preset button to quickly create a tier:

  • General Admission - $15.00, unlimited quantity
  • VIP - $50.00, limited to 20 tickets
  • Early Bird - $20.00, limited to 50 tickets
  • Student - $10.00, limited to 100 tickets
  • Free - $0.00, unlimited quantity

Tier Configuration

Each tier includes:

  • Tier Name - e.g., "VIP", "Early Bird"
  • Price - Price in USD (converted to cents internally)
  • Description - Optional description of what's included
  • Quantity Limit - Maximum tickets available (optional)
  • Sale Start - When tickets become available
  • Sale End - When ticket sales stop

Advanced Options

Click the chevron (⌄) to expand advanced options:

  • Delivery Method - App, Email, SMS, Print, or Manual
  • Active Toggle - Enable/disable the tier

Tier Status Indicators

Each tier shows its current status:

  • On sale now - Currently available
  • Starts in X days - Sale hasn't started yet
  • Sold out - Quantity limit reached
  • Sales ended - Sale end date passed
  • Inactive - Tier is disabled

Saving Tiers

Tiers show an orange dot when they need to be saved. Click "Save Tier" to persist changes. New tiers must be saved before they appear on your show page.

Action Buttons

Buttons available at the top of the form for managing your show.

Clear

Clears all form data and resets to a blank show. Useful for starting over.

Group Chat

Creates a group chat with all artists in your lineup and the venue. Enabled when you have a lineup and venue selected.

Save Show

Saves your show and navigates to the show page. Validates required fields before saving.

Tips & Best Practices

Start with a Draft

Set status to "Draft" to save your show with just a name and URL. You can add lineup and venue later.

Use Filters Effectively

The filter system is powerful. Use location and genre filters to find artists that match your show's vibe.

Upload High-Quality Media

Good poster images and background videos make your show page stand out. Use high-resolution images and engaging videos.

Set Sale Dates Early

Configure ticket tier sale dates when creating tiers. Use "Start Now" to make tickets available immediately.

Invite Artists Early

After saving your show, use the invite features to notify artists and the venue. They'll receive chat invitations.
